When I received Avantgarde yarn from Adriafil I initially thought that I’d use it to make baby items like I did with their Duo Comfort yarn. However, it’s a wool fingering yarn that I got in blue hues, which made it perfect to add to my variegated blue fingering yarn granny square blanket WIP. I just had to do that with it!
The Yarn
Avantgarde comes in a set of solid colors (particularly colors that are great for baby items although there are lots of bright and dark choices too) and it also comes in a multicolor set. The multicolor is interesting because it’s primarily one solid color and then there are these little flecks of other colors that look almost like confetti. These colors are also good for baby items. Avantgarde is a 100% merino wool yarn in fingering weight. Despite this, it is machine washable.
The Blanket
I’ve been working on this new large granny square blanket for awhile. I used up most of the variegated blue fingering weight yarn that I had in my stash so it was perfect that this came in to add to it. Here’s what I had before the yarn came in:
Adding the Yarn
I got two solid blue and two multicolor blue balls of Avantgarde. I decided to add rounds to my large granny square alternating the four balls, starting with multicolor. I like the effect.
